What Causes Sudden Onset Of Heaviness In Hands And Feet?

My daughter who is age 41 experienced sudden onset of a feeling of extreme heaviness in her hands and feet. She states it feels like rubber bands are around her wrists and ankles and that it feels like she is walking with weights tied to her feet. She is otherwise in good health. She walks everyday and actually ran a marathon last year. She saw her doctor who thinks it could be a virus. Her blood work results are pending. Have you ever heard of symptoms like this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She should get further evaluated doing a total blood count and biochemical blood balance. It can be post viral fatigue syndrome but also anemia and thyroid function should be evaluated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
