Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, for the last couple of days I have been having god awful pain coursing through my right leg. It varies from numb feet to sore ankles then pain in the muscles and like a stabbing pain when I move my hip. Not only that, but my shins hurt and it feels like it is always hot. The pain is everywhere in different ways but all excruciating. Only in the one leg though. I have not done strenuous sport or physical activity since it has started and it didn t start after doing something like that either. It was more random than anything. It gets so bad that I lose sleep at night over it waking me up when I move. I don t know what to do?
As per my clinical experience, the sudden onset of severe pain in unilateral leg with numbness, stabbing pain with excruciating quality indicates possible issue of proximal arterial blockage at groin level likely.
Though primary relief with analgesic is always an option, depending upon the severity of presentation, I would quote to visit an ER for primary physician evaluation. The most important investigations would be Doppler ultrasound of the lower limb for primary assessment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
