What Causes Sudden Pain And Swelling In The Hands?

I am having sudden pains in my hands, especially palm areas since last two weeks. The 1st morning I got up with extreme pain and swelling on my left palm on the side with the little finger and ring finger almost bent and unusable. The pain went away after 24 hours. But after that I have experienced similar pain in milder form in both hands once in a while. I think it gets aggravated with hand movements like typing or writing. Today, I feel there are some swellings or lumps on my head and behind the ear. Not sure if they are connected. Can you give an answer about what this might be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In my opinion, your symptoms can be related to an inflammation. The lumps in the neck and head can be reactive lymph nodes due to the presence of the infection.

I suggest you do a complete blood count to confirm the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, you can take the anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
