What Causes Sudden Pain In The Left Knee Upon Kneeling Down?

When kneeling to do one of my exercises (for lower back issues - seeing physical therapist) I experienced a sudden sharp pain on the outside of my left knee. This happened a year or so ago and eventually went away. I m just curious about possible causes. I have not fallen or hit the knee. Thank you

Hello,

Pain in the knee on left lateral position may be due to iliotibial band syndrome or osteoarthritis or lateral meniscus injury on twisting and bending or it may be due to infection.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Get it done an x-ray of a knee, avoid vigorous physical activity on knees.

Avoid standing from a sitting position. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
