What Causes Sudden Pain In Upper Thigh While Sitting, Walking Or Lying?

I have pain in my right upper thigh in the front only. It s not constant pain but sudden pain. It lasts no longer than 10 seconds but very sharp pain. Seems to be happening more often. It can happen when I m sitting or walking or laying in bed. Any idea where I can start looking for what is happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to many medical conditions. The most common cause is a muscle strain. I recommend to do an X-ray of the thigh to exclude other possible medical conditions. Meanwhile, I suggest to use painkillers such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
