What Causes Sudden Pain Under The Rib Cage While Travelling?

Hi, I am currently in the car and just felt like a shocking pain a little bit under my rib cage. I feel that since I have been traveling for over 24 hours in the car these past 4/5 days that might have something to do with me being cramped and uncomfortable. The shining pain only lasted like 10 seconds, it didn t hurt as bad for me to scream but it still hurt. Currently I feel no more shining pain but I do want to know if this is something I should be worried about. Thanks, -Brooke

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Chest pain can be from simple muscular pain to more important causes such as heart and lung conditions. It is best to have it examined.
If you are traveling, this puts you at risk for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and lung problems related to it.
It is best to have an ultrasound of the legs to rule out DVT and have your lungs examined as well.

I hope this is helpful.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
