Hello,

Feeling the heart pounding with a very slow pulse rate usually means that a bradyarrhythmia had occurred. There are various potential causes for this and it always requires a cardiological assessment particularly if she had symptoms of faintness and/or a pulse rate lower than 40 beats per minute.

Since you haven't mentioned the actual pulse rate that the nurse detected I can't be sure that this the case with her. If - for example - she had 58 beats per minute than this is not low enough to justify any symptom at all. Other symptoms like cold sweating and nausea may indicate an acute cardiovascular event.

I'll be glad to provide more comments if you'd like to share more information about her symptoms and findings. So in conclusion, visiting a cardiologist is advised for proper assessment and an ECG.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
