Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
after a drive to work (40 minutes) I get up to go in the office. Before I go to far I feel like I am going to pass out. I usually crouch down for about a minute and am ok. Sometimes if I don t make it in time I lose control of my body and have the shakes. Last time I couldn t keep upright so collapsed on the floor with the shakes. I don t loose consciousness though and am aware of what is going on.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Loosing body control and experiencing shakiness is suggestive of some neurological disorder. The body balance is controlled by cerebellum, which is the posterior most part of brain. Any disorder of cerebellum is associated with loss of body equilibrium and balance. Thus, I suggest you to consult a neurologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations - CT scan of brain. Further management will depend on the clinical findings, investigations and final diagnosis.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
