What Causes Sudden Pulsating Sensations All Over The Body?
Why do I feel sudden rapid beats around my body? Sometimes during the day, I feel a strong flux in my pulse, like it suddenly moves very fast but just in one location. Sometimes it is my neck, sometimes my shoulder, sometimes my back, sometimes my arm. It usually is just a quick boom boom boom boom and then ends. But whenever I check my heartbeat it feels perfectly normal for long stretches of time.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Your symptoms are due to anxiety which produces stress response all over body resulting in stimulation of nerves to cause irregular muscle movements. These are felt like pulsations. This can be controlled by self help by doing body relaxation techniques & mind concentration exercises. OR You need anxiolytic drug or phycotherapy to manage the anxiety. Please consult a neurophysician OR a psychotherapist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
