Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern and symptomwise approach is as follow:
If with increased freuency of urine there is
1. burning sensation, fever or chills suspect UTI (
urinary tract infection) and ask for urine examination.
ii. If burning does not subside within 3-4 days or recurs, then urine culture must be done to decide the antibiotics and ask for x-ray K.U.B. &
Ultrasonography.
2. If there is no burning sensation and only freuency is there then in young patient one has to exclude
tuberculosis of bladder, or UTI
3. If there is associated increased thirst and loss of weight ask for urine sugar and blood sugar curve and may ask opinion of
Endocrinologist regarding
Diabetes mellitus or insipidus.
4. Till then:
. Plenty of fluids.
. If infection in urine treat it first, and control diabetes ( if present)
. Monitor blood urea,S. Creatinine and S. Electrolyte and modify treatment accordingly.
. If no relief, check with a general physician who after proper examination will decide to whom he should be referred.
