What Causes Sudden Short Term Memory Loss?

I am 78 and seem to have had a rather sudden (2-3) month short term memory loss. I check my wt and if I don’t write it down after checking it I forget it. I forget things my wife tells me like early a.m. or yesterday or last week! I have had CT, MRI, LABS and consults with Neurology, FP, Medicine, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgeon and Psychiatrist. All that’s been found is multiple tiny lesions in central brain that Radiologist diagnosed as possible tiny CVAs that are likely nothing! I have had heart bypass 1994, stent placement x 2 in 2015, 2016. I have had to wear O2 since Oct. 2016 for levels dropping to 85 to 90 if not using. Non smoker and not COPD No dx for that yet either! I am very confused to say the least!! YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Even in this age, memory loss is not physiological and it should be evaluated further. It is necessary to get evaluated further about conditions such mild cognitive impairment, before to leave the culprit to mold. Neuropsychological tests and brain imaging (MRI) are necessary for this purpose. Discuss with your Doctor about these issues.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
