What Causes Sudden Staring And Purple Vision In Children?

I am a first grade teacher. Last Friday while reading with a group of my students, I noticed one student staring off in space . I called her name with no response. I spoke her name louder and clapped my hands several times. She did not snap out of it until a snapped my fingers directly in front of her. I asked her if everything was ok? She responded, Everything looks purple! Her answer made me feel uneasy. I asked her explain. She simply stated in amazement, Everything has turned purple! It was near dismissal time, so I didn t call her mother. I escorted her to her mother s vehicle and explained what had happened. Her mother thanked me but didn t seem overly concerned. I returned to my classroom and immediately googled my student s experience. I found a little information about Children who stare and see colors are likely experiencing a seizure. I called my student s mother to see if she had carried her to the doctor. She had not, nor had she call her daughter s pediatrician. This student had a previous staring episode in which I did call her mother. Her nose and lips began to turn blue! This happened in the beginning of the school year. Her mother immediately carried her to the doctor. An array of blood tests were conducted but nothing was discovered. I would be curious to see the results of a MRI or cat scan. What can you explain about her experience? Is this a form of epilepsy?
