Hello,
You have not mentioned the age of your bf or history of his past illness. Anyways,
stiffness in the hip radiating to the ankles may be indicative of PAD, Sciatica, labral tears, muscle injury,
tendonitis, bursitis, OA, etc. He is suggested to give rest to the affected leg. He can take anti inflammatory, Combiflam / Naproxen, one SOS when required for relieve from pain. Cold compress may ease the discomfort. But don't do it if he is not comfortable.
He is suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all blood workouts and imaging (CT, MRI, X-Ray, etc) tests done to detect factors causing him discomfort. Get him treated at the earliest. To reduce pain and inflammation your treating doctor may give
cortisone injection. Uncontrolled shivers can occur if the vitals are not normal due to
dehydration, stress(physical/emotional), low BP, low blood glucose level, etc. Make sure your bf's vitals are normal at such an episode.
He may be referred to a neuro-surgeon to detect the pathology causing shivers or seizures. He may require to do tests & investigations. Seizures can be idiopathic and can occur due to conditions that irritate the brain like
sleep deprivation, injuries,
hypoglycemia, low level of oxygen in the blood (deprive the brain of oxygen), infections, etc can trigger seizure irrespective of the fact that the person has or does not have any
seizure disorder.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
