Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
several time in the last 3 weeks I have woken to a swelling of my lips or chin. There is no pain and it seems to disappear in a couple of hours. I have not had reactions like this before and am not eating anything new. Items that seems to be common to the 3 separate reactions are, red wine, cucumber, nuts and strawberries. I have never had issues with these before. Would it be uncommon for a 56 year old to all of a sudden have a allergic reaction?

What Causes Sudden Swelling Of Lips And Chin?
Hi dear , The lip swelling can have many reasons like :- - Allergic reactions due to certain food , cosmetic products and sun exposure . - Angioedema . - Certain underlying condition like herpes cheilitis , lip infection and nasal congestion . I would suggest you to :- Give cold compresses to the lips . Apply lip balm containing SPF 15 to prevent them from sun exposure . Take bendryl . Avoid food like sea food and nuts . If it happen again or get worse then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
