Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My lip suddenly got swollen on the right bottom lip around 2 pm. Around 8:30 pm the left bottom lip swelled up as well. I am not allergic to anything and I ate things I usually have in the past..... yogurt, yellow split pea soup, Canadian ham and cabbage coleslaw..I also noticed I had 3 welts on my belly area when the second incident occurred.
Thanks for your query . The symptoms you mention in query in pointing towards allergic reaction due to insect bite .
I would suggest you to :-
- Give cold compresses to affected area 2-3 times a day .
- Take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl or zyrtec. .
- Drink plenty of fluid , drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day .
- Do not touch the affected area with your hands as it can aggravate condition.
I condition doesn't get better in a day then consult dermatologist for proper examination and to rule out other cause like trauma , angioedema or pimple .
Doctor may prescribe antibiotics and steroid ointment. If the allergic reaction is severe then doctor may give adrenaline short .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
