What Causes Sudden Unusual Taste In The Mouth In A Heart Patient?
Hi.I'm female and 63 years old. I had a severe heart attack about 7 years ago. I have had a strange taste in my mouth for about 3 days. Brushing teeth doesn't help and it is changing the tastes of food and drinks that I like. I take many prescriptions for heart disease, but I have been taking them for many years only started this issue a few days ago. Any ideas?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sudden unusual taste in the mouth in a heart patient which seems to be due to cardiac medications and poor oral hygiene as body absorbs these medications and eventually these show taste in saliva dn gives dry mouth as well.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to -Maintain proper oral hygiene. -Take diet rich in zinc supplements. -Chew on sugar free candies. - Brush and floss regularly. - Drink plenty of water.
If symptoms keeps on persisting visit oral physician once and get it examined and start treatment accordingly and visit cardiologist for alternative course of medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
