What Causes Sudden Weight Gain After Taking Escitalopram Oxalate?
I am taking escitalopram oxalate 10mg for menopause. I have been taking it for 3 months and I do not see any difference in my hot flashes, etc. it has caused weight gain. If I want to discontinue taking it do I need to ween of it or just stop taking it??
You are very right weight gain is a common effect and a major concern for many people.
If this has not worked for you in 3 months, we probably need to review continuing it.
Generally, the recommendations are that SSRI including escitalopram should not be stopped abruptly, rather it should be tapered in a few weeks. So don't stop it suddenly.
It's important that your doctor should be informed about your concern and regarding stopping the drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
