What Causes Sudden Weight Gain And Depression?

In the past 6 months I went from being a healthy fit happy full of energy 70 year old female to becoming a 20 pound overweight depressed unhappy angry 70 year old female who has no interest in anything and hate to get out of bed each morning-- all because I quit my 6-per- day cigarette habit-- which is worse for my health overall???

Hi,

You might need a little more time to adapt to the absence of cigarette use. Divert your mind into any hobbies. In case of severe symptoms, you can try a nicotine patch or gum.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
