What Causes Sudden Weight Loss, Excessive Thirst And Fatigue?

HI. My husband has lost about 15-20 pounds in a short period of time and is thuristy all the time and feels fatigue. He is eating the same amount as he usually does and has not changed his amount of exercise. We think he might have a Parisite in his stomach but I m not sure, what do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Rapid weight gain can be due to a number of things, and I would need to know his age and health history before being able to speculate. He should go in to see his doctor for an exam. I would also get the following tests:

1. fasting blood sugar (diabetes can cause thirst and fatigue).
2. complete blood count (CBC - can show signs of infection)
3. TSH and Free T4 (hypothyroidism can cause weight gain and fatigue).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh,
