What Causes Sweating In Head, Neck And Upper Chest After Doing Physical Activity?
Since last November, I have had these sweats that start with my head, then neck, upper chest. They seem to come on after I do a number of chores. I am 76 yrs old. They don t happen every day. They last maybe up to an hour or less. Primary care doctor thought it was Cymbalta and lowered dosage from 60 to 30 milligrams, but after four months, no change.
Antidepressants, alcohol & drug abuse can trigger sweating after a workout. Cymbalta has the side effect of causing sweating. Inform your treating doctor so that it can be substituted by some other medication that suits you better.
Stay hydrated & eat enough to keep your blood sugar levels steady. Bath regularly, profuse sweating can cause bacterial & fungal infections of the feet & toe nails.
Profuse sweating can cause a salt imbalance & serious medical conditions that can cause. Visit the ER, get a thorough medical examination done.
Get done lipid profile, stress test & imaging tests to rule out any developing pathology causing the discomfort.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
