What Causes Swelling Above The Eyebrow Post Head Surgery?
I had a squamous cell cancer removed from the top of my head two days ago. Today I find that the area just above my left eyebrow is lightly swollen. This is about four inches from the sight of the surgery, but I wondered whether either the novocaine used or the minor surgery itself could cause such a reaction 48 hours later and not at the site of the procedure
The swelling above the eye brow post surgery for squamous cell cancer is related to possible tissue reaction to dissection per operatively. Guidelines for better results: - Discuss the need of ice application over the part with your treating oncology surgeon - Continue current medications as antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications - Control of blood sugar - Remain in regular follow up with your operating surgeon for best results
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
