Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling Above The Right Ear And Painful Wisdom Tooth?
I have swelling above my rightear/temple. About 2 inches long from abive temple to ear and inch in width. I have no insect bit, no itching or apparent cut/scratch. I do have a wisdom tooth coming in on the right side on top. I thought that could be what was causing the swelling. I have pressure around my eye and right side of my head and sort of sensitive to touch around the swelling and a headache off and on for a few weeks, swelling for 3 days. Could this be due to the wisdom tooth?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that a lump infront of ear that is extending towards temple region seems to be due to swelling in the Parotid gland.. It can also be swollen and inflamed pre-auricular lymph nodes..
It does not seems to be due to wisdom tooth as the swelling in that case is commonly present in the area below the earlobe..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral or General Physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigations like FNAC/Biopsy and also MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now do alternate warm and cool compresses over it and take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Hope this information helps..
Regards..
