What Causes Swelling After Draining Bartholin Gland?

Im a mother of 2, aged 39. I had my bartholine gland swollen week ago. After being drained by the doctor (not through operation) and antibiotics treatment, it gets swollen again. Is this common? What caused it? And should I go through operation? Or are there any other options? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to a recurrent infection of the Bartholini cyst.
I suggest to use anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.
Antibiotics may also be needed to treat the infection.
You should consult your gynecologist for further evaluation.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
