What Causes Swelling Along With Redness And Pain In Finger?

Yesterday I was picking up branches we had trimmed from wild bushes outside our fence. A thorn pricked my knuckle on my middle finger. It was fine at first but later it started hurting and became very swollen and red. I soaked it and applied neosporine. Today it does not hurt as much but is still swollen, red and was warm. I have continued to soak.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling along with redness and pain in finger. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like infection or allergic reaction due to thorn of bush. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to finger several times a day , continue apply neosporine and take over the counter anti histamine like zyrtec twice a day . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will take history and check physically . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with anti inflammatory or antibiotics .
