What Causes Swelling Along With Tiny Red Lumps On Lips?

My lips have been very swollen for the past few months. I first started using EOS lip balm for more than 5 months and everything was fine until i started getting these tiny bumps on my lips, which began to itch a little and turn red. So I switched to Burt s Bees lip balm, the bumps and the redness did go away for a few months, but came back even worse this time. How can I get the swelling to stop? How come I m experiencing allergic reactions now and not before, especially with the EOS lip balm?

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Allergic Angioedema of the lips that is causing swelling of the lips along with formation of itchy bumps..
It can occur due to a number of causes like allergy to any food or medicine while any skin cosmetic, soap and detergent can also be a cause..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Prick test, Patch test, RAST test, food challenge test, CBC can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can start taking anti histamines/ anti allergics like Levocetrizine..
You can do cool compresses over the lips..
Avoid licking, biting or pressing the lips as it can exaggerate the swelling..
