What Causes Swelling And Bruising Of Leg Along With Warmth Around The Ankle?
I had a pulmonary embolism in November 2014. Im better now. No more clot and i still have the filter n my vein. Im no longer on coumiden since may 2015. I fell on the ground about 3 weeks ago on my left lower leg and it is swollen and somewhat bruised. Around my lower leg n ankle my leg is very warm to the touch and hurts a little bit...not much. Should i contact my doctor or just let it heal and go away.
Hello, I can understand your concern. Based on the history the present swelling seems to be due to the injury rather than the clots in leg. Swelling and hotness indicate inflammation. This can be treated with anti inflammatory drugs like aceclofenac. Take two tablets daily for five days. Internitent soaking inWarm water would help. Crepe bandage over the area is also helpful. If the pain increases and restricts movments or presence of crackling sounds might indicate a fracture and an xray is required to confirm the same. If you notice any engorged veins or bluish colouration of skin consult your doctor for clot evaluation. Hope i have answered your concerns. Feel free to ask further queriea. Kindly hit thanks
