What Causes Swelling And Burning Sensation In Leg After A Fall?

What may I have done to my leg? I slipped and swung a wooden bat into the front side of my calf muscle right beside my shin about 4-5 inches above my ankle. It almost immediatly swelled up and hurt to stand on it. I put ice on it and the swelling went down. I stood up and tried to walk and got a burning sensation and the swelling immediatly came back. I m away from home and will be going home tomorrow afternoon. Is it something I can wait on and what should I try to do in the meantime till I can get back home?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Swelling is expected after trauma to the calf and it is due to inflammation.
However, burning sensation may be due to compression, irritation or injury to the nerve.
Pain killer and hot fomentation will help to resolve the pain.
However, a clinical assessment by an orthopedician iis required find out the cause of burning sensation.
In case there is involvement of nerve appropriate management will be required for management.

Thanks and take care
