What Causes Swelling And Burning Sensation On The Left Ankle?
on the inside of my left ankle right behind the bone is a horizontal band of raised swollen skin. My heel has been bothering me for a few weeks. It burns and is very difficult to walk on. it gets bad in the morning when i first wake up then loosens then gets worse as the day goes on. The hard swollen band showed up this morning. any ideas of what s going on?
It is possible that the pain may be due to a spur. This can cause severe pain in the ankle and may also be associated with swelling and difficulty walking.
A spur refers to inflammation of an area in the foot called the plantar fascia. Treatment normally involves rest, good footwear and heel pads, pain medication and exercises. There are certain exercises that are recommended, they are demonstrated online (search for exercises for plantar fasciitis).
This diagnosis should be confirmed by a visit to your doctor. He or she would examine the ankle and may also suggest an X ray to take a look.
I hope this helps
