Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my husband has prominent mole on his face (sideburn) and a few days go the area around it got really swollen, red and sore. Last night it oozed quite a lot of pus and the swelling went down, though the mole remains crusty and large. He says it feels less tender now. Normal? Or worrying?
As per your query swelling and discharge from mole is definitely a matter you should be little worried about. Its a symptoms of compound mole which is the most common type and as it is tender and draining pus i would suggest you not to touch it all or pop it with anything. Don't wash it with any chemical agent except medicated face wash that too with very less quantity.
Visit dermatologist or oral microbiologist , get its biopsy done to rule out any malignancy. Get it excised after proper examination. You can go for laser or cauterization as well for aesthetic purposes.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
