Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had something sore I thought was my jaw for several days here. My sister tells me it's probably the epiglottis or pharynx. It's not at my tonsils. I would say it 'moves' when I swallow, breathe in through my nose at times, and burp. Sometimes it feels 'opened', inflamed too.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling and discomfort in throat which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection that is usually caused by a virus leading to viral pharyngitis. Need not to worry. Take few preventive measures such as :
- Drink plenty of water and other fluids each day.
- - Do warm saline gargles .
- Run a humidifier in home to keep air moist.
- Avoid cold beverages.
- Take proper course of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medications.
- Take throat lozenges.
Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Doctor may refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux or allergy specialist .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
