What Causes Swelling And Hardness In The Arms After Immunization?

Hi I had some immunization shots yesterday in both arms. My right arm is hard and swollen, in the area where I had the shots. I also feel a bit like I have flu symptoms. I am currently a cancer patient (multiple myeloma) and taking a mild form of chemo. I just wanted to ask if these systems are normal, please advise.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No, you should have told them that you are taking chemo. Because as far as I know, we shouldn't give immunization to immunocompromised patients.

Their body do not respond and infection flourishes. But the good thing is as soon as you got injection, body has reacted to it and immunity have acted.

I think you need to take antibiotics like amoxicillin, ampicillin, norfloxacin or levofloxacin anything full course in order to tackle the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
