What Causes Swelling And Inflammation In The Arm After Injecting Ice?

...i injected ice into my arm earlier today, I registered the vein and pushed the plunger and I didn t feel any sign that I was missing the vein. After I removed the syringe I did not feel the usual rush, and now my arm is inflamed. There is no bump from access or redness, just the swelling and it feels kinda numb under the skin. I also should mention that I want to avoid the hospital if at all possible , I am on probation and cannot afford to get in trouble.

Hello,

It looks that you probably partially missed the vein and some amount has been leaked under the skin making it irritated and inflamed. So my suggestion is to start doing ice packs over the swelling. If at all there is pain you can take painkiller. In case if it doesn't improve or continue to worsen consult an Emergency and get evaluated. Do not press the area as it can further irritate it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
