What Causes Swelling And Inflammation Of The Finger Post A Self Injury?
I have an infection from a week old CUT ON INDEX FINGER TREATED AT EMER. CLINIC...no follow up, no protocols for cleaning, etc...infection : swelling, inflammation occurring this pm.... Called attending (mine!) her M.A. issued Cephalexin 500 mgm every 6 hours/ 10 days.. the M.A. remarked I see that you take an antibiotic quite often for congestion etc. for upper resp. problems, therefore I am going to give you another to be certain????? I personally think she should have asked my phys. for instructions???? I have a concern about a staph infection occurring due to the surroundings in my employment which leads to neglect of washing hands, etc....meeting multiple persons for 10 hrs per day.... Give me opinion about taking this med. I feel I should get in touch with my attending.
The cause underlying is the bacterial infection post injury.
Management is precise care of local part with sterile dressing, antibiotic as rightly prescribed one Cephalexin, anti inflammatory medicines and other supportive care.
Control of blood sugar is very vital part of the management.
