What Causes Swelling And Intense Pain In The Back?

My fiancé is having severe back pain, symptoms include bulging n the area, close to the spine. The bulging area is sometimes to the right of his spine, sometimes as of recently the bulging is on both sides of his spine. When this bulging occurs, it is accompanied with severe pain. The pain, makes it difficult, to stand, walk, or do even simple tasks such as doing dishes... It literally will sometimes take his breathe away. The weird part is its not all the time. This condition is not constant, it is not always brought on by strenuous work. When it does occur, it will continue, to cause severe pain for 3,4, or 5 days. Any idea s what the problem might be. (he is not the kind to complain) I am trying to research what could be the cause and possible treatment. I really hate to see him in so much pain, and he has not seen a physician about it. But, I am very concerned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Respectfully, Theresa Murphy

Hello,

As of now you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

An MRI scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
