What Causes Swelling And Intense Pain In Wisdom Tooth Gums Radiating Towards Neck?

I have impacted wisdom teeth and they are literally vertical with no where to go. My gum got very swollen around my back wisdom tooth. It's been to the point I can't close my mouth and my cheek and neck are swollen and the pain radiates from my neck to my ear. It hurts super bad to swallow. So I went to put some ambesol on it with my finger and white stuff came off onto my finger every time I put it on. The swolleness wraps around to the back of my throat where my tongue stops. Idk it is my wisdom tooth or if its strep or tonsillitis

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my level best to resolve it to the best of my knowledge and experience..

As per your complain swelling and intense pain in wisdom tooth area with gum extremely swollen and discharge of white stuff that is pus is all due to a condition known as PERICORONITIS and it occurs due to inflammation of gum flap around wisdom tooth..
It occurs when there is food and debris accumulation between the gum flap and wisdom tooth that leading to bacterial proliferation causing infection and inflammation leading to swelling of the gum flap..

As the wisdom tooth lies close to throat therefore infection and inflammation in the area of wisdom tooth can cause inflammation and pain in throat..

In your case it seems to be a severe case of Pericoronitis and not strep throat or Tonsillitis..

You should immediately consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination will be done..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and also gargle with betadine mouthwash..
Once the swelling slightly reduces you can be advised Operulectomy that is surgical removal of the gum flap to prevent recurrence..
Extraction of impacted wisdom tooth can however be a permanent resolution and can also be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
