Hi. My 13 year old son has had swollen and red earlobes for two days. He says they itch but are not painful, but they are obviously distended. He has seasonal allergies. His earlobes are NOT pierced or stretched. Should I consult his pediatrician?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain it seems like allergic reaction to some known or unknown allergen and redness, itching and swelling of ear lobes is due to it.. You can give him benadryl that is an anti allergic and apply steroid ointment over the ear lobes.. You can also apply Calamine lotion and do cool compresses over the ear lobes.. In case if there are recurring episodes of the same you can consult an Allergist and get him evaluated and allergic testing can be done to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
