Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. There can be many reasons for your condition. One thing is that its too early for your age to develop hypertension. The reason for your hypertension has to be found out. Kindly visit a physician who should ideally do your kidney function test, liver function test to rule out any pathology for the development of hypertension and swelling of legs.

Another reason could be your teenage pregnancy which might have caused hypertension during pregnancy and thus development of feet swelling. Now there might be some infection at the site of swelling, leading to cellulitis. And definitely smoking will aggravate your condition. So its better to cut down on smoking. Kindly visit a physician who will evaluate you in detail, may do blood tests like complete blood count, liver and kidney function tests. Also may suggest doppler ultrasound of your leg and x-ray to find out the reason for swelling. The doctor may prescribe you antibiotics and diuretics to bring down leg swelling.

Hope I have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.

All the best.

With warm regards,
Dr. Sanjay Kini
