What Causes Swelling And Numbness On Face After An Ear Infection?
i visited my GP yesterday as an emergency appt .was diagnosed with ear infection both ears and prescribed antibiotics. I think my left eardrum may have burst last night. it was leaking a clearish thin fluid but also one side of my face was and still is slighly swollen and numb and i can hardly speak - do i need to visit again today as an emergency very many thanks
As you had been diagnosed with ear infection yesterday and today you have swelling on face and you are unable to speak, you need to worry about it as it is very common occurrence after ear infection. Your symptoms are similar to Otitis Media i.e middle ear infection which takes at least 3 day to clear. You need not to go to emergency room right now, wait for atleast 2-3 days, if your symptoms still persists then you should consult your physician. As in that case it could be possible that you might got Mastoidtis or any damage to facial nerve due to which facial numbness, swelling and inability to speak is there.
Take the course of antibiotics as prescribed to you. Avoid smoke and frequent blowing.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
