What Causes Swelling And Numbness On The Left Side Of The Lips?

At about 0430 the left side of my lips began to feel very numb and swollen. The cheek areas of my face began to feel numb too. I went to the mirror and my lips looked swollen. I drank some water and slathered Neosporin on my lips. At about 8 am my feet started to feel itchy. I don t feel like my normal self. What could be happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
The swelling could be caused by an insect bite or any other organism or just a local infection. The symptoms you describe sound like and allergic reaction which is becoming systemic.I will suggest you get an antiinflammatory like dexamethasone and an anti histamine. Then go see the Doctor for examination and an antitetanic serum if your immunization status is not up to date.I will suggest you get examamined as soon as possible before other serious symptoms appear.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
