What Causes Swelling And Numbness On The Lips?

I have a shattered femur and have been able to relieve the pain with Tylonal. In the last few weeks my lips have been swelling (causing numbness but not large) and I am concerned. I tried breaking pills I. Half and that helped but new pills won't be akin half. Just statutes this am with whole pill and lips numb again.
Is there anothover the counter medicine that might be better for me?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that reddening,
tingling,slightly swollen,non irritant lips giving a strange feeling are due to some sort of allergic reaction to some unknown allergen/irritant leading to Allergic Angioedema of lips.

However certain common irritants can be certain foods like sea food, nuts etc, medicines, lip cosmetics,soaps,detergents etc..

You should consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can advise you allergic tests like Prick test, Patch test, RAST test, Food challenge test to confirm the cause and treat you accordingly..

As of now you should start doing cool compresses over the lips..
Take anti-histamines like Levocetrizine or Benadryl..

An Immunotherapy can also be instilled to you by the allergist to reduce the severity and frequency of the allergy symptoms..
