What Causes Swelling And Pain Around A Shingles Vaccine Injection Site?
I received shingles vaccine two days ago, no initial reaction. The injection site suddenly, became swollen and painful after 48 hours. Pain is not low grade and achy, it burns and is increasing in intensity within the last few hours. Pain is keeping me awake and I am afraid to bump it or roll into that side. Are these reactions cause for concern?
The reaction at the site of injection is the most common complication of shingles vaccine. You can use antihistamines such Benadryl or Cetirizine for itching and rush. Use Ibuprofen for pain. It doesn't let long term consequences and goes away by itself.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
