What Causes Swelling And Pain In Anus?

This may sound gross, but my but hole feels very swollen. It hurts to sit, lay down on my side or even walk. I felt and there is nothing there but it literally feels like a balloon ready to pop. It is the most painful thing I have ever felt. What is it :(

Swelling and pain in the region of anus might be a few things. It could be an anal fissure or hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can cause a bulging mass out of the anus and bleeding when you use the toilet. Anal fissures can present just with pain or pain with bleeding. In your case it is most probably a small fissure. You should get it checked out. But while you are waiting to the see the doctor you can try a home treatment called Sitz bath. It is basically sitting inside a tub of lukewarm saline water upto your hips. It helps a lot. Take care.
