What Causes Swelling And Pain In Soft Palate?

I have had terrible sinusitis for 2 years, 5 rounds of antibiotics, steroid spray and bactroban and it just comes back. I use a Neti pot AM and PM. Now the roof of my mouth near the soft palate is swollen and really, really painful... could my sinus drainage be pooling here, and how do I fix this?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms swelling and pain near soft palate along with a history of sinusitis seems to be due to post nasal drip leading to infection in throat causing inflamed and swollen soft palate..

You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS view x ray or an MRI scan can hep in making a confirmatory diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now you can take a course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin and metronidazole for 5 days.
Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen has to be taken..
Do warm saline gargles.
Do steam inhalations.
Avid spicy and hard foods.
Using a humidifier in your room can further help..
