Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My ankles seem to swell for no reason, ache a bit. They are swollen a bit when I get up in the morning and swell a lot more during the day. I also get light headed, especially if I bend over to pick up something, but also sometimes when I just get up and start moving.
There are different causes for swelling of the ankles or/and legs. The most common reasons are: (1) Trauma (2) Arthritis of the ankle joints or joints in the foot (3) Side effect of medication (4) Liver, kidney or heart disease (5) Venous disease, dilated varicose veins
The lightheaded sensation may be due to a liver, kidney, and heart disease if any of these are present or may also be a side effect. You may need to be assessed by your doctor, this would include physical examination and blood tests as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
