What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Arms?

I had blood drawn today and I just noticed that my arm has a huge swollen area there now. It is a little achy right now but I have never had this happen before. The first gal that tried to get my blood did probe a little and I stopped her. She also stuck me twice in the very same spot. Then another person came and stuck me there again but did get the blood. Is this something that I should worry about and what should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There is likely damage to the soft tissue since you were repeatedly stuck in the same general area

Soft tissue damage can be associated with swelling and pain. This may get worse over the next 24 to 48 hours then start to taper off.

The use of anti inflammatory medication , if you can use one of these, would help eg naproxen or ibuprofen.

A warm compress to the area may also bring some relief

I hope this helps
