Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 52years. 6 yrs ago developed body wide joint swelling extreme pain and difficulty to move limbs waist down. Hospitalized 5 days and diagnosed with a Viral disease which got better BUT every since have noted muscles become weaker and weaker to point now have difficulty walking up stairs. difficulty lifting. I am type 2 Diabetic insulin dependent. I have been having Flair ups of extreme joint muscle pain and joint swelling. Debilitating pain which may last a day then becomes mild manageable pain. Pain is daily now with joints and muscles.
As the joint swells are due to the weakness of the muscles supporting the joint. Due to which there are joint compression and inflammation of the soft tissues.
I will advise you to do regular exercises like - static quadriceps, static hamstring, ankle toe movements, straight leg raise, core stability and hip muscle strengthening exercises. Wait and see if this exercise is generating enough strength in the muscles to support the joint and reduce the inflammation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Jay Indravadan Patel, Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist
