What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Finger Joint Post Injury?

Hi, I was playing basketball and I either went for a rebound or block, then started suffering pain and swelling on the knuckle of my index finger on my left hand around to the palm. The swelling went down but when I close my hand I can t make a tight fist and when I extend to stretch my hand i also feel pain. Suffered from the injury on Monday and now it s been a week. What can this be?

I would suggest you better get an x-ray done and consult nearby orthopedician.
In the meantime, use analgesics for pain relief.
