What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Leg?

I have one leg that is swelling, I was in the hopital about a month ago and it was swelling then, they did a sonagram for bloodclot and found none. Yesterday I woke up and on the back of my leg right behind the knee there was a large swollen area that was very painful to the touch today that seems to have moved to the knee area. I am getting sharp pain radiating down my leg.. Also if I sit for a long period of time the bottom part of my leg right about the foot gets very red..

Hi,

You seem to have thrombophlebitis in your knee region... it is moving with your leg movements... & you should prevent that with no movements of the region (use crutches/wheelchair to immobilize the leg for a few days).

Take over the counter anti-inflammatory pills like Ibuprofen & apply Thrombophobe ointment locally... do not rub or massage.

Meet your family physician ASAP... for specific treatment & instructions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
