What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Right Leg?

My mother is 88 years old and recently her right leg is swollen and painful. the pain seems to start near the hip and radiates down to her feet. She does have bad knees and until recently her right knee has always been as she says, her good knee . she does have Afib and arthritis in her knees, neck feet and hands. She does not do alot of walking.She says her pain level is about a 7 all the time.

Hi;

Due to her immobility and atrial fibrillation, she is tended to have thromboembolic events. If she has not been taken any kind of antiagregant/anticoagulant medication; complaints related with her right leg indicates deep vein thrombosis. She may also have vascular claudication but it's hard to identify without physical examination+complete anamnesis. I advise counseling with a cardiovascular surgeon.
