What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Shin After An Injury?
a few months ago I injured my shin by running into a steel fork on a fork lift. I hurt at the time however a day or two later it seemed fine. Minimal bleeding from broken skin and swelling. As the holiday season rolled on the swelling reduced a bit and the skin healed. Now the swelling is only quite noticeable in the evenings but is most gone in the mornings. The past few days a few blisters have developed at the site of the injury along with itiching and there is a definite dent in the shin. Just wondering what might be going on...
First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, you need to get it reviewed by a surgeon or a dermatologist to rule out local tissue infection.
Sometimes such injuries may be followed by such inflammatory changes even without infection however such rashes need to be reviewed by a dermatologist as can be a sign of systemic illnesses.
Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used for pain and inflammation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
